It is getting hotter and hotter and not everyone is blessed with skin that tans quickly. Do you also suffer from this? Then a self-tanner is the solution for tanning quickly. I also regularly use a self-tanner and I am very satisfied with this. Curious which self-tanner I use and what my self-tan necessities are? You can read that in this blog!
Self-tan necessities
This is the tan I use. It is the coconut (super dark) tan from Minetan. The tan smells deliciously like coconut, so you can also simply apply the tan during the day. I usually apply the tan in the afternoon, so I can take a quick shower in the evening to rinse the color guard of the self-tan.

This self-tan dries really fast and you will have immediate results thanks to the color-guard. After 1 hour you have a light tan, but if you leave it on for longer than 1 hour, you will have a much deeper tan. I keep the tan on my skin for three hours, after which I rinse the tan off.
After I have rinsed the tan off, the color can get darker in the next 24 hours. So after 24 hours, you have the full tan and it stays on for seven days.
Other facts about this self-tan:
- Based on coconut water
- Fast dry formula
- Always a smooth result
- Doesn’t turn orange
- No self-tanning smell
- Can be rinsed after 1 hour
- Suitable for all skin types and skin colors
- Paraben-free
- Suitable for vegans
- 100% natural DHA
As you can see, there is a clear difference in my arms. Above you see my brother’s arm, which at first was even darker than I was. Below you see my arm with the self-tan on. The self-tan picks up very well on my arms, but keep in mind I have had the self-tan on for three hours.
This self-tan picks up a lot less on my legs. Of course, you see a difference, but it really is a lot less difference than my arms. I also had the self-tan on for three hours.
This self-tan only costs 30 euros and you can tan a lot with this bottle.

Self-tan necessities: use a tanning mitt
A tanning mitt is really a solution when it comes to spreading your tan evenly. In addition, the tanning mitt protects your hands against too much self-tan, so that your hands just get an even color.
It works as follows: You spray some self-tan on the tanning mitt (after you shake the self-tan well!) And then you spread the tan over your body. I make circles with the mitt until the tan is completely smooth. With the tan of Minetan, it goes very easily, because the tan doesn’t dry too fast.
As you can see in the photo above, you can see that the tan protects your hands well against the tan. When using this glove, I didn’t get any tan on my hands at all. What you should of course not forget is to apply the tan on your hands in the end. I do this with the remaining tan on the mitt. For this, you don’t apply extra product on the mitt.
A separate spray for your face: Nano Mist
You have two options when it comes to tanning your face. Firstly, you can use the self-tan that you use on your body or secondly, the Nano Mist that applies a thin layer of tan on your face, without worrying about applying too much to your face.
It goes like this. First, you add the Minetan tanning drops to the device, which is very easy with an opening at the back of the device. Then you click on the button, causing the device to spray a thin mist of tanning drops for two minutes. It is important that you keep the Nano Mist 10-12 cm away from your face. It is also important to keep your eyes and mouth closed and not to move the Nano Mist too quickly. You can then blend the tan slightly better with the (small) tanning mitt, giving you a beautiful glow.
If you are looking for a super big difference, then this Nano Mist is not really for you. However, if you are looking for a subtle difference, which really gives you a glow, then this Nano Mist is really perfect.
Self-tan necessities: remove your tan
Before applying the tan, it is important to remove your previous tan. I do this with two products: a random scrub and the pre-tanning eraser from Minetan. First I scrub my skin with a coffee scrub and then I apply this tan eraser on a cotton pad to remove my remaining tan. I then leave this eraser on my skin for five minutes, so that all my remaining tan is gone.
Rose spray to keep your tan
To maintain your tan you can use this rose spray from Minetan. I have to say, the scent isn’t really great, but the spray is really refreshing. To maintain my tan, I usually use body lotion every day, but if you are not a body lotion or face cream lubricator, then this rose spray is definitely for you!
