You want to buy a blog theme. A decision which is actually a very good decision. A while ago, when I was on holiday, it came up in my mind to change my theme. I was never satisfied with my free theme and I struggled with a lot of things. I could never change my free theme to the thing I wanted, although I know pretty much about HTML and CSS. A paid theme really comes in handy then.
With a paid theme you have the support of course and that is really amazing. For example, my theme has amazing support and I can get an answer in a couple of minutes. I don’t say it is the most amazing answer then, but they always try to help you, until it is fixed. We don’t talk about the amazing advantages which a paid theme has today, but where do you need to pay attention to when you buy a theme?
WordPress or blogger?
At first, you need to pay attention to if you buy a theme for WordPress when you have WordPress. The same counts for Blogger, then buy a theme for blogger! Also, pay attention when a theme says it is for WordPress, then it doesn’t mean it is also for WordPress.com. These themes only work on wordpress.org.
Second, you always have to look on the demo site. Most blog themes have a demo site where you can watch the theme live. Think about how beautiful the theme is, but also about the functions. Does this actually work? It can work on the demo site perfect of course, but it is also possible that it doesn’t work on your own site. This can be because of the plugins you use because not every theme works with every plugin.
An advantage of a paid theme is that it is SEO optimized. Still, not every theme has this, just pay attention to this! Also, watch in the description if the theme has everything you need. Does it support every picture you have and maybe you need a theme what works with Woocommerce?
How do I receive the theme? You also have to pay attention to this. With some themes, it can take pretty long until you get the theme. I have received my theme via an instant download.
With some themes, you have to buy a license. This is a license what only counts for one year. That means that you need to pay an amount of money every year to stay using that theme. Just make sure you have a theme without a license and which you can use forever. Thia way you save some money.
Always look at the reviews! Check if the support is good and if the blog theme totally works. Even when the theme is super pretty, it has to work well of course. Don’t think that you can solve the problem and that you just can buy the blog theme. A theme just has to be free of all problems and the problems can also be the maker’s fault.
